Email/ Texting

9 11 2009

www.complaintogain.com

Email, texting, SMS what ever you want to call it, it is a fact of modern day life.

But with this convenience comes of course abuse.

When I say abuse I am not talking about spamming since that is an annoyance that we can all do with out but it comes with people becoming coward like.

Saying things that they would never say to someone to their face.

Spreading rumors, lies and generally hiding behind the luxury this technology affords us.

We are all aware that the transfer of information via these means is instantaneous. You send and someone on the other end regardless of where they are gets the message moments later.

So denial of not getting the message is something that is fruitless unless you happen to be in an area with ” no service” part of the world.

But there are few places left where that occurs so when someone sends you a message, text, sms it is pretty much guaranteed that the message has been received.

No matter how much you want to deny it, ignore it, the sender knows you have received the message.

Now I have heard people say oh I have been so busy I did not have time to respond back??

What? How long does it take to say ” I’m ok real busy right now will email later” or something to that nature.

Or even “busy”.

Now if you do not have enough time in your day to send a short message with 4 characters in it. I strongly suggest that you go see a doctor.

Since you will work yourself to death.

But really folks there is no one that does not have a few seconds. Yes folks a few seconds is all that it takes to respond back to that person.

Look at it this way. May be the person sending the text, sms, or email is very busy also but they found the time to send you the message.

So bottom line here folks. If someone is thoughtful enough to send you a text take the few moments to acknowledge the receipt of it.

Since they know you have received it and your denial or ignorance of it’s receipt does not sit well with the person sending it. Just imagine how you feel when the role is reversed.

H1N1/ Swine Flu

7 11 2009

www.complaintogain.com

The sky is falling the sky is falling. Run for your lives.

I was rather disgusted  when I went to Japan earlier in the year for business and the Japanese government ( in typical fashion I might add) had worked up the Japanese people like hitting a bee hive repeatedly with a baseball bat about the “Swine Flu.”

Upon landing in Tokyo (the pitiful excuse for a  haz mat) suited people boarded the plane and wandered around the flight deck with a heat sensing camera. In a feeble attempt to prevent the “Swine Flu” from permeating the island.

All I did was laugh about it since I thought that the Western world was a little more intelligent than this relying on the facts of the situation rather than being herded up like cattle to the slaughter by the pied piper aka the government.

But rest assured the Western hemisphere soon fell into the same state of over panic and hype all brought on by a combination of the government and the media.

People getting into physical confrontations while waiting in what looks like cheese lines from the great depression.

The governments in North America are not doing much to help the whole situation. Claiming everyone should be vaccinated and yet not having enough vaccine?

The media is more to blame due to the fact of the Swine Flu death report that is broadcast 24 hours a day.

What the media is neglecting to inform the ill informed public is that the statistics  for the seasonal flu are alarmingly higher than any deaths caused by the ” Swine Flu”

So people there is a real easy solution that each and everyone of us can do to help prevent the spread of this thing.

If you are coughing or sneezing cover your mouth. This is just common manners but it appears like so many people in the world today are completely unaware of this simple rule.

Cover your mouth and don’t spread your germs.  There is nothing worse then seeing people out and about coughing and sneezing blatantly into the air without any consideration for those around them.

And don’t cough or sneeze into your hand. Why? Well right after you cough or sneeze into your hand you go and touch door handles, money, etc etc which thousands of other people will come in contact with.

Which spreads the virus. So I am sure some of you out there probably don’t even know what a handkerchief is  well they should come back into style asap..

You remember the pieces of cloth old men usually carry around with them to blow their noses or to sneeze into.

And there is no need to go and purchase one. Since a old bandanna does the trick just as well.

Wash your hands!! Frequently. I would personally suggest buying some hand sanitizing soap that you can carry around on your person.

And wash your hands with it several times a day.

Don’t touch your eyes or nose with your bare hands. Because bottom line folks the tips or your fingers are disgustingly dirty. You would not even want to know how dirty they are.

And finally have common courtesy for your fellow man. If you are sick, coughing and sneezing stay at home.

Don’t get on public transit infecting all of those around you then go into work and do the same.

If we all would learn some manners and wash our hands regularly and keep our fingers away from our faces H1N1 can be beat.

And for those of you that are still afraid of the H1N1 follow directions!!

If they say that such and such a group can be vaccinated on such and such a day don’t be an idiot and go there and complain when you are turned away.

So go out and enjoy life. And be considerate to your fellow man if this was done this flu would have never gone into the pandemic stage.

Who is to blame?

4 11 2009

www.complaintogain.com

Who is to blame for all of that things that have went wrong in your life?

Were you a victim of circumstance? Bad upbringing? Bad environment?

Well if you look around the world and seek others that have been through what you have and have become successful I think you might find the answer.

Take a hard look in the mirror. And think to yourself. Why is my life the way it is? Why am I here right now? What went wrong? And most importantly what can I do to change it.

Since no matter how hard you cry and how much you complain about it the only one that can fix it is you.

Since regardless of what you might think and feel the truth is that you are where you are because of one person. You.

Of course you can say well I was… Or it was… or any of the countless excuses that come to mind.

But bottom line everything is a result of you. Be it your laziness your lack of motivation, your dependencies or addictions.

You can say well I was forced to…. Or I had no other choice to …..

This may well indeed be a fact but after you are forced to do something once you have the choice of leaving the situation or staying. No matter what it is.

There is always another way. Always

Growing old

4 11 2009

www.complaintogain.com

Ah old age. The golden years. The time in your life when you can sit back and relax with all of the money you have hopefully saved.

But really folks what choice do you have? It is not like you are going to start running marathons, take break dance classes or join the circus now is it?

Life is for the young. Death is for the old.

Once you reach a certain point in your life you start to reflect back on the why didn’t I do… Or I should have done….

You only have one shot at life. And realistically it is not like you have your full life to do those things. Most things you have to wait until you are an adult to be able to do them.

So take off 18 years. If you are fortunate/unfortunate to live until 80  80-18= 62

I am going to be generous here and say that 60 is the cut off time. For most it is considerably earlier and for the lucky it is later.

So you are left with 62 years to be able to do things.

62-20= 44

20 is the years from 60-80.

Now I don’t want anyone to get their panties in a knot here. It is a fact folks plain and simple. You can not do the same things with the same amount of vigor as you could when you were 30 when you are 70.

Yes you may be able to do them. But are you really doing them?

People will clap and applaud you for doing it at your age. But lets get real here folks.

We all know that they are applauding that you can do it at your age. Not that you are doing it well.

So bottom line take risks, make mistakes live your life when you are young and full of vigor.

To save all of your money so that you can be happy when you are riding around on an electric scooter and using a cane is not my idea of living.

Take advantage of your health. Worry about tomorrow tomorrow. Live for today.

Don’t believe everything you see, hear or read.

2 11 2009

www.complaintogain.com

Before the internet the only real sources available to most of us were either the television, radio,  printed material or my personal favorite word of mouth.

I have been thinking which is more reliable? Well to be honest folks each have their strengths and weaknesses, but what it really boils down to is, how reliable is the source that is giving you the information?

Now most people would jump up and say well my best friend told me this so it must be true.

Really?

I want everyone to think back, way back when they were in elementary school.

Did you ever partake in an activity when your teacher told one student something and then told them to tell the person beside them and so on and so on.

Until the student in the back was instructed to tell the class the information that they have finally heard from the student next to them.

Do you remember the results of that “experiment”?

Well I will refresh your memories the results were hmm let’s say a rather abstract version of the original. And in a some cases bore no resemblance at all to the original.

So no matter how much your trust your best friend to give you accurate information it really depends on the chain of command so to speak that information followed before it reached you.

Now for the folks that rely on the old mighty internet for their information this has to be one of the easiest tools known to man for ease of use of information manipulation.

You can alter photos with programs you can alter ” facts” with nothing more than a user name and password. (Think Wik…) folks.

Rumors can be hatched and spread around the world in a matter of seconds.

Then we have the standard for a majority of people in the world. The tv.

Now I want to point out here folks that your local television station is not broadcasting your local news as a charity.

It is a money making venture.

And depending on who owns the station or company your news can and in most cases is skewed to meet their needs.

So bottom line here folks in today’s day and age the old saying don’t believe everything you see, hear or read has never rung so true.

Well Halloween is upon us

1 11 2009

www.complaintogain.com

Ah Halloween. The time of ghosts and goblins and creepy crawlers. It sure has changed since I was a kid.

Of course the premise is still the same.

Get dressed up go door to door begging for candy.

But I think the thing that has probably changed the most is the treats.

Back in the day people actually made treats.

Yes folks anything from candy or caramel apples, to rice krispy treats to mixed nuts and the list goes on and on.

I don’t know if it was an age of innocence of an age of naivety.

But what ever it was it sure was different.

Of course even way back then the old razor blade inside an apple urban myth still traveled through the trick or treaters souls.

But now we have a new nemesis on the block. The H1N1. Run for your lives the world is ending!!

What do you have to complain about? To learn how to complain effectively with step by step instructions I strongly encourage you to check out my book. Complain To Gain.

Michael Jackson “This is it” who cares?

30 10 2009

www.complaintogain.com

I am sure everyone has been bombarded with the advertising for his last movie.

It seems rather ironic that it takes his death to get anyone to pay any attention to the man.

Since he has not produced anything worthy of listening to or writing about for years.

But he is not the only person or thing living on their past.

We live in a society that cherishes it’s past. Regardless of how good or bad it was.

The first one that comes to mind is of course musicians.

There are so many groups still around touring on their past. When in some cases their past was not really even worthy of a tour itself.

It is hard for me to go see a group that I was into back in the 80’s and see them in their bloated, balding, and wrinkled state today.

I love things from the past but they are memories. I do not  want to relive them since a memory can never be relived it  is a one shot deal. That will be forever etched into one’s mind.

By trying to relive that memory all you end up doing is tainting that image in your mind. Since nothing will be as good as when it actually happened in real time in real life.

Now back to the title of this blog entry. Was never a big MJ fan. Was in high school when ” Thriller” came out and never purchased it in any of it’s available musical forms at the time.

I give credit where credit is due. He was talented but was never one to go with the popular flow so to speak.

So what do you have to complain about? For step by step instructions on how to complain successfully check out my book Complain To Gain.

P.S. Folks the “limited release time” is nothing then more than a marketing scam. Basic marketing 101. Supply and demand.  Mixed with a massive advertising campaign.
